What a wonderful week we just concluded in the studio as we started work on our first full length album, due out in early 2011. With 9 songs now tracked, we just have a few more to go. If you’ve been a regular at our live shows the past months then some of the songs may be familiar, but there’s also some never-before-heard material and quite a few surprises. So now it’s time to start bringing our new babies out into the world, and your first opportunity to hear the fresh tunes will be this Wednesday night at The Joint in West LA. We’ll be supporting our friends Ocelot Robot at their CD release party, so it’s gonna be a fun time!

This Thursday (8/12), we’ll be playing a FREE, ALL AGES show at Spaceland Under the Stars in Pershing Square, downtown LA. We’re opening for Gamble House (they’re good), and it’s the same night as the Downtown Art Walk, so there’ll be tons to see and do. We go on promptly at 8pm, so come down and have a great summer evening!

Starting Saturday August 14th, we’ll be in the studio recording our first full-length album – to say we’re excited about this would be a vast understatement. We hope to give everyone periodic glimpses into the wonderful wide world of the studio via pictures, video, and recordings on that fancy interweb thing, so stay tuned to this space. We’ll be playing Silverlake Lounge, our favorite east-side dive bar, on Thursday August 5th. The fantastic Oh Darling and Les Blanks will be joining us for a night of rip-roaring raucous revelry. We’ll also be debuting some brand new songs from our upcoming full-length album that we’re recording later in August! Doors at 8:30pm, $8 cover, 21+.

Monday, July 19th we’ll be playing a FREE SHOW at the Echo for the Mississippi Man residency. This is going to be a fantastic show, with talented bands Big Whup, Buddy, and of course Mississippi Man rounding out the bill. And good news for the younger folks – 18+ can get into this show for $7. So get the week started right and come enjoy some great music with us! Doors at 8:30pm, music starts at 9pm.

Thursday, July 8th at 8:30pm we’ll be playing at SPACELAND with Oh Darling, The Steelwells, and Wake Up Lucid. We’ve been fans of all these bands for a long time, and they’re all going to play killer sets. This show is presented by BeatCrave and they’ll be giving away THREE pairs of free tickets. We’ll also be raffling off homemade baked goods at the show made by members of the band (those of you who won cookies, cakes, bread, or brownies at our EP release show can attest to the deliciousness) as well as free t-shirts, CDs, and other prizes.

Admission is $7 at the door, but if you RSVP to the Facebook event you’ll be placed on the VIP list and get in for only $5. So please come out and enjoy a fantastic night of great music – we’ve wanted to play Spaceland for a long time so this’ll be a big night for us. We’re looking forward to raising our glasses together at the show!
